COVID-19 and Team Trials at Lakewood Yacht Club

A safe event is our top priority for everyone involved: sailors, families and guests, our members, our staff, and event volunteers.

Four key practices have informed all our planning decisions:

  1. Masks

  2. Distance

  3. Keep it Outdoors

  4. Sanitizing and Hand Washing

For everyone, masks will be required out of respect for our fellow competitors and the Lakewood members and staff who have opened the Club for this event.

Contactless check-in, electronic protest filing, and ample space will let everyone keep 6' apart for all event activities.

Lakewood Yacht Club has plenty of outdoor space, and all event activities will take place in open air or under a covered pavilion. Zoom options are a consideration depending on official guidance in April.

Everyone should always wash their hands, and we'll have many points for sanitizers as well.

We remain hopeful that April brings more positive news that will give an added sense of security. As we all watch the data and guidance, know that COVID-19 precautions are a priority in our planning for Team Trials.

At Lakewood Yacht Club, the safety and wellness of our members and guests are a top priority. Masks are required to enter the clubhouse, contactless measures have been put in place, and we have newly added UV filters in our HVAC system.

On Wednesday, March 10, the Governor’s Executive Orders on COVID restrictions on businesses in Texas expired. At Lakewood, under the strong guidance from our Flag and management, we will continue with the safety protocols that are currently in place. Staff members will be required to wear masks. Tables and chairs will remain distanced and we will temperature check employees before they begin their shifts. Members are requested to wear masks when they are not eating or drinking and to socially distance.
